Mozzies Pocket Park is officially launched!

We are delighted to share that the Mozzies Pocket Park is officially launched! Members of the Mongolia Australia Society came together to support the Pocket Park concept — the idea that even a small green space in a busy city can make a real difference — and have added one more small green public space to our community.

The pocket park sits in the heart of Ulaanbaatar, in the garden next to the Tedy Centre in Chingeltei district. Over three weeks in June–July 2026, the project renewed the park’s infrastructure and greenery:

  • 155 m² of new paver footpaths and 240 m of borders framing the green areas;

  • the central flower bed clad in natural stone;

  • new rest benches and outdoor lighting;

  • 93 newly planted trees and shrubs — pines, yellow caragana and elms.

For Mozzies, this is about more than one park. As an alumni community living and working in Ulaanbaatar, we want to contribute to the clean air and the look and feel of our city — and caring for and improving the small green spaces around us is a practical way to do that. Seeing children, families and neighbours enjoy the park every day is the best result we could ask for.

On Sep 12 2026, Mozzies members and partners gathered at the park to mark its official launch.

The project was made possible by an Alumni Support Grant from Australia Awards Mongolia, funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). A commemorative board in the park acknowledges this support.

Our warmest thanks go to Australia Awards Mongolia, the Australian Embassy in Mongolia, our partners, and every Mozzies member who supported this initiative.

Next time you are in the city centre, drop by, take a seat on one of the new benches and enjoy a little green.

A small space can make a big difference!
